ENGINE OIL FILTER

Replace the engine oil filter every season

or every other oil change if the tractor is

used m ore than 100 hours in one year.

AIR FILTER

Your engine will not run properly using

a dirty air filter. Service air cleaner m ore

often under dusty conditions.

CLEAN AIR SCREEN

Air screen m ust be kept free of dirt and

chaff to prevent engine dam age from
overheating. Clean with a w ire brush or
com pressed air to rem ove dirt and stub­

born dried gum fibers.

CLEAN AIR INTAKE/COOLING AREAS

To insure proper cooling, m ake sure the grass

screen, cooling fins, and other external sur­

faces ofthe engine are kept clean at alltim es.

Every 100 hours of operation (m ore often
under

extrem ely

dusty,

dirty

conditions),

rem ove the blow er housing and other cooling
shrouds. Clean the cooling fins and external
surfaces as necessary. M ake sure the cooling
shrouds are reinstalled.

NOTE:

O perating the engine w ith a blocked

grass screen, dirty or plugged cooling fins,
and/or cooling shrouds rem oved w ill cause
engine dam age due to overheating.

MUFFLER

Inspect and replace corroded m uffler and

spark arrester (if equipped) as it could cre­

ate a fire hazard and/or dam age.

SPARK PLUG(S)

Replace spark plug(s) at the beginning

of each m ow ing season or after every

100 hours of operation, w hichever occurs

first. Spark plug type and gap setting are

show n in “PRO DUCT SPECIFICATIONS”

section of this m anual.

IN-LINE FUEL FILTER

The fuel filter should be replaced once

each season. If fuel filter becom es
clogged, obstructing fuel flow to carbure­

tor, replacem ent is required.

1. W ith engine cool, rem ove filter and

plug fuel line sections.

2. Place new fuel filter in position in fuel line

w ith arrow pointing tow ards carburetor.

3.

Be sure there are no fuel line leaks and

clam ps are properly positioned.

4.

Im m ediatelyw ipe up any spilled gasoline.

CLEANING

• Clean engine, battery, seat, finish, etc.

of all foreign m atter.

• Keep finished surfaces and wheels free

of all gasoline, oil, etc.

• Protect painted surfaces w ith autom o­

tive type wax.

W e do not recom m end using a garden

hose or pressure w asher to clean your

tractor unless the engine and transm is­

sion are covered to keep w ater out. W ater

in engine or transm ission w ill shorten the

useful life of your tractor. Use com pressed

air or a leaf blower to rem ove grass,

leaves and trash from tractor and m ow er.

DECK WASHOUT PORT

Your

tractor’s

deck

is

equipped

w ith

a

w ashout port on its surface as part of its
deck w ash system . It should be utilized af­
ter each use.

1.

Drive the tractor to a level, clear spot

on your law n, near enough to a w ater

spigot for your garden hose to reach.

IMPORTANT:

M ake

certain

the

tractor’s

discharge chute is directed AW AY from your
house, garage, parked cars, etc. Rem ove
bagger chute or m ulch cover if attached.

2.

M ake sure the PTO (Blade Engage) is

not engaged, set the parking brake, and
stop the engine.

3.

Thread the nozzle adapter (packaged

w ith your tractor’s O perator’s M anual)
onto the end of your garden hose.

4.

Pull back the lock collar of the nozzle

adapter and push the adapter onto the

deck w ashout port at the left end of the
m ow er deck. Release the lock collar to
lock the adapter on the nozzle.

IMPORTANT:

Tug hose ensuring connec­

tion is secure.
