TAMPING THE COFFEE

After measuring the ground coff ee into the
Filter it must be tamped (pressed down) using
the fl at end of the measuring spoon. The
ground coff ee should be tamped quite fi rmly.

If the coff ee is not tamped fi rmly enough, the
water will fl ow through the water too quickly
and the coff ee will be under extracted. If the
coff ee is tamped too fi rmly, however, the water
will fl ow through the coff ee too slowly and the
coff ee will be over extracted.

NOTE:
The taste of your coff ee will, of course,
depend on personal preference and
on many other factors such as the type
of coff ee bean used, the coarseness
or fi neness of the grind and the
tamping pressure (pressed down). We
recommend experimenting by varying
these factors to achieve the coff ee taste
of your preference.
