3. Apply nominal sensing input voltage to the appropriate case terminals. A single voltage source may

be connected to paralleled relay sensing voltage inputs to simulate a three-phase source.

4. Apply a current source to the relay current sensing inputs and increase the current level until it is

greater than the underpower pickup point.

5. Slowly decrease the applied current until the Underpower Pickup Indicator just lights.

The Underpower output contacts, auxiliary output contacts, and target indicators should operate.
Verify that the wattmeter indicates a power reading that is within 2% or 0.1 W, whichever is greater, of

95% of the Overpower Tap Selector setting. The pickup setting for tap B, low range is listed on the

front panel Tap Selection Chart.

6. Slowly increase the applied current until the Underpower Pickup Indicator just turns off.

Verify that the wattmeter reading is within 105% of the underpower pickup value established in step 5.

Instantaneous Time (Overpower)
1. Connect the timer/counter so that timing begins when sensing current is applied, and ends when the

Overpower output energizes.

2. Select a mid-range pickup point and apply sensing voltage that is appropriate for the relay.
3. Apply a step change in current that will yield two times the selected overpower setting at unity power

factor. Measure the interval from current application to Overpower output activation.
The measured time delay should be less than 80 ms at 60 Hz or less than 100 ms at 50 Hz.

Definite Time (Overpower)
1. Connect the timer/counter so that timing begins when sensing current is applied, and ends when the

Overpower output energizes.

2. Make the following front panel setting adjustments.

Range Select Switch: LOW

Overpower Tap Selector: B

Overpower Time Delay Control: 01

Overpower Time Delay Multiplier Switch: x0.1

Underpower Pickup Selector: FULLY CCW

3. Apply operating power to the relay at case terminals 3 and 4.
4. Apply nominal sensing input voltage to the appropriate case terminals. A single voltage source may

be connected to paralleled relay sensing voltage inputs to simulate a three-phase source.

5. Adjust (but do not apply) the current source to a level that is two times the tap value. Apply the

current and measure the interval from current application to Overpower output activation.
The measured time delay should be 0.1 ±0.050 seconds.

6. Repeat step 5 for Overpower Time Delay Control settings of 50 and 99.

For an Overpower Time Delay Control setting of 50, the measured time delay should be 5.0 ±0.25

seconds.
For an Overpower Time Delay Control setting of 99, the measured time delay should be 9.9 ±0.50

seconds.

Definite Time (Underpower)
1. Connect the timer/counter so that timing begins when sensing current is removed, and ends when the

Underpower output energizes.

2. Make the following front panel setting adjustments.

Range Select Switch: LOW

Underpower Pickup Selector: FULLY CW

Underpower Time Delay Control: 01

Overpower, Underpower Time Delay Multiplier Switch: x0.1

Overpower Tap Selector: B

3. Apply operating power to the relay at case terminals 3 and 4.
