14. Tighten the nuts firmly

in a crisscross
sequence as shown by
turning the wheel
wrench with the wheel
wrench extender
clockwise.

15. When you install the wheel and tire, you must also

reinstall the center cap. Place the cap on the wheel
and tap it into place until it sits flush with the wheel.

Storing the Flat or Spare Tire (SUT)

Use the following art and text to help you store the
spare or flat tire back into its proper location when you
are done.

To store the flat or spare tire on the tire carrier, do the
following:

1. Close the tire carrier. See Tailgate/Spare Tire

Carrier on page 2-14 for tire carrier operation.

2. Place the flat or spare tire onto the tire carrier with

the outside of the wheel facing you.

3. Reinstall the three nuts holding spare or flat tire to

the tire carrier. Tighten the nuts by hand.

4. Use the ratchet and wheel wrench (jack A) to

tighten the nuts firmly.
