Operation

Technical service – MCZ S.p.A. all rights reserved - Reproduction prohibited

If you remove one or both of the upper deflectors, located in the steel

hood above the fire mouth, it lets the smoke rise vertically without

obstructions towards the flue pipe.
Always remove the higher deflector first (the smaller one). Only

after re-lighting the fire and checking operation, remove the second

lower deflector (the larger one).
The deflectors are simply set on internal brackets. Therefore, to remove

them, just move them in the direction of the arrow as shown in

figure

29.

Removal of the deflectors should not become a matter

of routine. You should only do it when there is no other

way or improving an old or small flue pipe short of

rebuilding it.
Removing the deflectors without due reason causes smoke

to exit more rapidly and decreases thermal exchange, with

lowers the performance of the fireplace stove. This does not

happed if draught is insufficient because the smoke already

spends too much time in the combustion chamber and has

time to make the proper exchange.

This should be carried out by the installer at the

moment of test lighting. Never operate the fireplace

stove with only the upper deflector (i.e. the smaller

one) as this may force smoke towards the fire door

and allow smoke to get into the room.
The steel deflectors get very hot. Therefore, before

removing them, make sure the fireplace stove has

been shut down and has cooled for some time.

5.7. COOKING FOODS

Only certain models of the Airsystem line are suited for cooking foods

on the grille with the fire door open

(Airsystem F80). Therefore, if you

want to cook on a model that is not set up for it, it is advisable first to

form a bed of coals with no flames. Then open the door only to turn

the food over on the grill, which must fit in the fire bed.

5.8. EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

If for any reason the stove fire needs to be suddenly and quickly put

out or a fire in the flue pipe needs to be put out, proceed as follows:

• If time allows, remove the grate and ashes, using a metal

container.

• Put the fire out rapidly by means of a dry carbon dioxide (CO

)

extinguisher.
