Chapter 3 Remote Control

DP800A series power supply can be controlled remotely via the following two modes.

User-defined programming

Users can program and control the instrument by using the SCPI (Standard

Commands for Programmable Instruments) commands. For more information about

the commands and programming, refer to the

DP800A Programming Guide

.

Use PC software

Users can use the PC software to send commands to control the instrument remotely.

Ultra Sigma of

RIGOL is recommended. You can acquire Ultra Sigma from the

resource CD in the standard accessories or download the latest version from

RIGOL

official website (

www.rigol.com

).

This power supply can communicate with the PC through USB, LAN, RS232 and GPIB

(with the USB to GPIB interface converter provided by

RIGOL) instrument buses.

This chapter will give a detailed introduction of how to use Ultra Sigma to control

the power supply (take DP831A as an example) remotely through various interfaces.
