Removing the M5000 Server DC-DC Converter

Caution –

Use proper ESD grounding techniques when handling components. See

Section 1.1, “Safety Precautions” on page 1-1

.

Pull the DC-DC converter from the socket and place it on the ESD mat
(

FIGURE 13-7

).

13.2.7

Installing the M5000 Server DC-DC Converter

Caution –

The converters designed to go into slots DDC_B#0 and DDC_B#1 have

metal heatsinks. If these converters are installed in any of the other slots, or if the
converters without heatsinks are installed in these slots, serious system damage may
result.

1. Place the DC-DC converter in the open slot.

2. Push gently downward to seat the DC-DC converter in the slot.

Securing the Server

1. Install all memory boards.

2. Install the top cover.

This step includes sliding the server in to the equipment rack and restoring the
antitilt features to their original position. See

Section 5.2.2, “Replacing the Top

Cover” on page 5-8

.

3. Power on the server.

This step includes reconnecting power cables, verifying the state of the LEDs, and
turning the keyswitch to the Locked position. See

Section 4.4.2, “Powering the

Server On Using Software” on page 4-13
