There are two fans in each power supply unit.

The SPARC Enterprise M5000 server has a I/O backplane/power backplane/busbar
unit, located near the center of the lower half of the system, which provides these
functions:

Power conductor to the power supply backplane, fan backplane, power supply
backplane, and motherboard unit

Connectivity between the various backplanes and the motherboard with FRUs and
system components

Refer to

Section 7.1, “Power Supply Unit Replacement” on page 7-1

for replacement

procedures.

FAN Module

The fans in the midrange servers move air currents into and out of the server. If one
fan fails, the eXtended System Control Facility (XSCF) detects the failure and uses the
redundant fan(s).

Both servers use 172-mm fans (FAN_A) as the primary cooling

system. The 60 mm fans (FAN_B) in the M4000 server are used for additional cooling.
