To Replace a Failed Virtualization Engine

1. Replace the old (failed) virtualization engine unit with a new unit.

2. Identify the MAC address of the new unit and replace the old MAC address with

the new one in the

/etc/ethers

file:

3. Verify that RARP is running on the Storage Service Processor.

4. Disable the switch port:

5. Power on the new unit.

6. Log in to the new unit, for example:

7. From the User Service Utility Menu, enter 9 to clear the SAN database.

8. Choose

Quit

to clear the SAN database.

9. Configure the new unit:

10. Check the configuration:

8:0:20:7d:82:9e virtualization engine-name

# /opt/SUNWsecfg/flib/setveport -v VE-name -d

# telnet v1a virtualization engine-name

# setupve -n virtualization engine-name

# checkve -n virtualization engine-name
