NTVQ01xx Media Card

RS-232 Asynchronous Maintenance Port

An 8-pin mini-DIN socket on the NTVQ01xx Media Card faceplate provides
access to the RS-232 port. This faceplate port can provide access to the
Media Card for OA&M purposes. The maintenance port is also available
through a female DB9 connector on the 50-pin I/O Adaptor. This should be
used to make a permanent terminal connection.

Functional description

Media Cards use different types of firmware pre-installed, depending on
the application being supported. The Voice Gateway application enables
Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) for either line or trunk applications. When
the Voice Gateway application is installed on the Media Card, the card is
called the Voice Gateway Media card. Other examples of applications on a
Media Card include IP Line 3.0 and Integrated Recorded Announcer.

The NTVQ01xx Media Card connects an IP and circuit-switched device.
The DSPs perform media transcoding between IP voice packets and
circuit-switched devices. The Media Card also provides echo cancellation
and compression/decompression of voice streams.
