APERTURE PRIORITY MODE

Set the Mode dial to “A”.

Aperture setting is displayed in
green.

on the Arrow pad to

select the aperture.

: Increases the value.

: Decreases the value.

If you set the Mode dial to “A” when the ISO speed is set to AUTO, ISO
speed is automatically set to 100.

When the built-in flash is activated, you cannot set the shutter speed to 1/30
sec. or slower when the zoom lever is set to the maximum position of “W”,
and 1/200 sec. or slower when the zoom lever is set to the maximum
position of “T”.

Unless OFF is selected in “ALL RESET”, the setting will be canceled and
reset to off when the power is turned off. (p.148)

Note:

You can set the aperture manually in the Aperture priority mode. This is
especially useful for taking portrait pictures with blurred backgrounds.

When the aperture indication

appears in red on the display
The aperture indication appears in red
when the aperture setting is unsuitable
for the conditions. “

aperture to the optimum setting

When the aperture is set to F8, the
fastest shutter speed possible is
1/1150 sec.
