2.2.4.11 Update Firmware.

The M-LINK has the ability to update its firmware.

Step #1: Download the new firmware in the

Downloads

section on the Gentec-EO web site.

Step #2 Select “LOAD NEW FIRMWARE FILE” in the Upgrade Firmware utility, Select the file
you have just downloaded.

Step #3 Select

“Update firmware”, we recommend not to make anything on your computer while

the M-LINK is updating for about 5 minutes. If you have a laptop, connect the external power
supply.

2.2.4.12 Zero Baseline

The M-LINK has the ability to zero the baseline of the joulemeter in case the offset is too high. This
function should only be used if you see an invalid OUT on a selected range, this should not occur very
often.

2.2.4.13 Mode

The Mode button enables you to activate the Energy mode with the thermal heads.

2.2.4.14 Null

In the Joulemeter window it is a math subtraction. When the user presses the button, whatever reading is
current will be used as the subtraction value until the button is released. This feature is needed to make
accurate measurements when using Noise suppression on very noisy signals. It does the same thing as
entering the negative value of a reading in the offset control, it just makes it easier.

For example:

Connect the external trigger of your laser to the M-LINK. Block the Laser beam. Select the Noise
Suppression. Start the statistics until the reading is stable. Make a Null, this will cancel the average noise.
Unblock the laser beam. Make the measurement.
