SECTION 2: GETTING STARTED

The Win-Situ application window appears. A new, empty site called
“Home” is displayed at the top of the Navigation tree on the left side of
the screen.

STEP 3: ADD A CONNECTION TO THE “HOME” SITE

A connection is simply a COM port on your computer. The Connection
Wizard asks a few questions to help you specify the properties of this
connection, including—

Connection Type: To connect to an In-Situ data logging device

attached to the COM port, select “direct” connection. For other
types, see “About the Connection Wizard” on page 7.

Connection Strategy: One device or more than one.

Communications Port: The COM port (RS232 serial port) to

which the device is attached.

Connection Speed: Baud rate for communications.

Name (optional): A default connection name is suggested.

• To have the wizard connect automatically to the attached device,

be sure the option Connect and find devices on “Finish” is
checked.

STEP 4: CONNECT

1. If you

requested
Win-Situ to
connect and
find devices,
proceed to
step 3.

the Connect
