Chapter 6 Configuring Advanced Settings

DHCP Settings

Selecting

DHCP

Settings in the Advanced Setup tab generates the “

DHCP

Settings”

screen. The Modem has a built-in

DHCP

(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

server that automatically assigns a different

IP

address to each computer on the

network, eliminating

IP

address conflicts.

The factory default setting is On. To disable the

DHCP

server, select Off.

Actiontec strongly recommends leaving the

DHCP

Server option On. If the

DHCP

Server option is Off, ensure the

IP

addresses of the networked computers are

on the same subnet as the

IP

address of the Modem. For more information, see

DHCP

Server Configuration.”

DHCP Server Configuration

Clicking in the “I would like to adjust the

DHCP

Server settings” check box allows

values to be entered in the text boxes in the lower part of the

DHCP

Settings screen.

Change

IP

address range and

DNS

server information here.
