Management
Service In addition to reporting a single error code, the SMF processes also
provide detailed messages through the Event Management Service
(EMS). For a complete listing of SMF EMS messages and
explanations, see
Appendix A, EMS Support .
FastSort FastSort is the sort-merge program for NonStop systems.
Inspect The Inspect product is a debugging tool used to interactively
examine and modify the execution of system processes.
PUP The Peripheral Utility Program (PUP) enables you to perform
various operations on disks and other peripheral devices connected
to your system.
RDF The Remote Duplicate Database Facility (RDF) assists in disaster
recovery for OLTP production databases, monitors database
updates audited by the TMF subsystem on a primary system, and
applies those updates to a copy of the database on a remote
system.
RESTORE RESTORE is a utility program that copies files from a backup tape to
disk.
Safeguard The Safeguard product is a system-level security tool that provides
a set of services for protecting the components of the system or
network from unauthorized use. Safeguard supplements the security
features of the operating system by maintaining a database of every
user on the system and a database of every system object.
SCF SCF is the online configuration and management facility for G-series
RVUs. SCF enables you to configure and reconfigure devices,
processes, and some system variables without having to shut down
your HP NonStop S-series server.
NonStop
SQL/MP Files on a NonStop system may be either Enscribe files or NonStop
Structured Query Language/MP (SQL/MP) tables. This product is
referenced in this manual as SQL.
TACL Various SMF processes and supporting interfaces are invoked
through the Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL) user
interface.
TMDS The Tandem Maintenance and Diagnostic System (TMDS) is a
software subsystem that interacts with the Maintenance and
Diagnostic System (MDS) to record, report, and diagnose system
malfunctions.
NonStop TMF The NonStop Transaction Management Facility (TMF) product
protects databases in a wide variety of environments, servicing
online transaction processing (OLTP), online query processing
(OLQP), batch processing, and decision support systems.
