Catalog Files

The storage pool catalog files have a file code of 461. You can specify a virtual or
physical volume and subvolume on which to place them when you define a storage
pool by using the PUP DEFINEPOOL or SCF ADD POOL command. If you do not
specify a volume and subvolume, they reside on $SYSTEM.ZSMSP

pair of numeric characters. These system named subvolumes are limited to one
hundred per volume. HP recommends that they be placed on a mirrored volume.

Virtual Disk Process Catalog

Five files make up the catalog used by a virtual disk process:

The virtual disk catalog files have a file code of 462. These files are always found on
the virtual disk with the following name:

$virtual-disk-process-name.ZSMSCAT.*

You must specify physical locations for catalog files when you define a virtual disk by
using the PUP DEFINEVIRTDISK or SCF ADD DISK command. The physical volumes

IDENTITY

Contains the name of the process that created the catalog.

PENDOPS

Stores information about operations in progress that is used for
recovery if the virtual disk process fails.

VERSION

Contains SMF version information.

ANT

Contains information that maps virtual disk names to physical disk
names. Entries are used when a file is created or purged and to
provide information in response to PUP or SCF inquiries.

DEPOBJ

Tracks relationships that exist between different files that reside on
the virtual disk.
