Verifying Virtual Volumes Are Created for Remote Copy

1.

Before you create volume groups, ensure that virtual volumes already exist on both storage
systems.

2.

If volumes don’t yet exist, create them using the standard volume-creation commands. For
more information on these commands, see the HP 3PAR InForm OS CLI Administrator’s Manual.

3.

Ensure the virtual volumes meant for Remote Copy use adhere to adhere to the rules for Remote
Copy virtual volumes.

For more information, see

“Rules for Creating Remote Copy Virtual Volumes” (page 189)

.

Creating Remote Copy Volume Groups

Remote Copy volume groups are pairs of virtual volume sets that are logically related and that are
used when data needs to be consistent between specified sets of virtual volumes. For more
information, see

“Volume Groups” (page 190)

.

NOTE:

You can create groups and add volumes to groups without disrupting host access to

volumes.
