10. Click Add to save your settings and add the storage system.

A.7.1.2 Creating volumes and adding external volumes

You can add volumes that exist on the storage system to the appliance and you can create new
volumes on the storage system. In this example, you will add an existing volume and create a new
volume.

Add an existing volume

1.

From the

main menu

, select Storage Systems.

NOTE:

The Actions menu is not present until you add or create at least one volume.

Select Actions

→Add Volume.

3.

For Storage system, select StorageSystem01.

4.

For Volume ID, enter the logical unit number (LUN) World Wide Name (WWN) of the existing
volume you want to add.

5.

For Name, enter ExistingVolume1 as the name for the volume on the appliance.

6.

For Sharing, choose Shared.
Shared enables the volume to be used by more than one server profile. Private makes the
volume available to only one server profile, and is required to enable booting from the volume.

7.

Click Add to save your settings and add the volume.

Create a volume

1.

From the

main menu

, select Volumes, and do one of the following:

Click + Create volume in the

master pane

.

Select Actions

→Create.

NOTE:

The Actions menu is not present until you add or create at least one volume.

For Name, enter NewVolume1.

3.

For Volume Template, select None.

4.

For Storage pool, select PrimaryStoragePool.

5.

For Capacity, enter a value between 1 GiB and 16 tebibytes (TiB).

6.

For Provisioning, choose Thin or Full.
Thin will expand the volume to fill the capacity as it is used. Full will create the volume at the
full capacity.
