Establishing Version 2 Relationships while Suspending Write Operations to S-VOLs

When you establish Version 2 relationships with the FCESTABL command while suspending the
write operations to the S-VOLs to keep the data consistency, the ACTION parameter (see

(page 103)

)

is available in addition to the parameters in

(page 83)

and

(page 100)

.

Table 56 Parameters for the FCESTABL Command (Version 2/Suspending Write Operations to
S-VOLs)

Description

Value

Parameter

Suspend the write operations from the
host to the S-VOLs. Note that if you

FREEZE

ACTION

establish a relationship specifying
extents, the ACTION parameter will
suspend the write operation to the
whole volume.

(page 104)

shows an example of how to use the FCESTABL command to suspend the write operation

to an S-VOL when you establish a Version 2 relationship. In this example, the FCESTABL command
establishes a relationship for the volumes (devices) numbered 4202 and 4203, and at the same
time, suspends the write operation from the host to the source device numbered 4202.
