The Version 2 relationship can be established using Preserve Mirror FlashCopy function only
when both of the TCz pairs are in Duplex status. If the TCz pairs are not in Duplex status, the
operation is different depending on the specified option (PRESMIRREQ or PRESMIRRPREF).

When using the Preserve Mirror FlashCopy function, HP recommends setting the time
of MIH (Missing Interrupt Handler) timer to the setting time of MIH timer (45 seconds) when
operating a TCz synchronous pair.

CAUTION:

When you create a Version 2 relationship with COPY mode using the Preserve

Mirror FlashCopy

function, the relationships are established at local site and remote sites, but

the both of the copies are not synchronized. When Withdraw is issued while copying, the both
copy operations for Version 2 relationship stop. In this case, the consistency between the S-VOL
and T-VOL cannot be guaranteed even if the TCz pair status is Duplex.

This status can be verified using the TCz PPRC CQUERY command and the Remote Web Console
TCz window. For more details, see the TrueCopy for IBM z/OS User’s Guide.

A relationship error may occur when the relationship in the remote site is established while the
relationship in the local site cannot be established. When this happens, the relationship cannot be
established even if you retry creating a Version 2 relationship by using the Preserve Mirror
FlashCopy

function. Release the relationship at the remote site and try again.

The following figures show the copying process of Version 2 pairs and TCz pairs with the Preserve
Mirror FlashCopy

function (in the case of COPY mode).
