When this command is run, and the new password is typed and confirmed, all Systems Insight
Manager partner services are stopped in preparation.

The password entered is then updated on services that are configured to run using the installing
user's credentials. Services running as local system will not be changed. Stored credentials in
Systems Insight Manager for accessing the CMS are also updated.

NOTE:

If the CMS is associated with a locally installed SQL database, then this command also

updates the password for it. If the associated SQL database is remote, then you must also run the
mxreconfig —m dbauth

command. This option is only support on Systems Insight Manager.

The command changes the passwords for, and then restarts, the following services:

HP Agentless Collection for Linux Systems

HP Application Discovery

HP Global Workload Manager Central Management Server

HP Insight Control server migration Application Service

HP Insight Control server migration Web Service

HP Insight Control virtual machine management

HP Insight Orchestration

HP Logical Server Automation

HP Systems Insight Manager

HP System Management Homepage

OpenSSH Server

Stored credentials

NOTE:

This command does not work with HP Insight Control server deployment. See the HP

Insight Control Server Deployment 6.3 User Guide for more information.

Procedure 18 Changing the CMS password

1.

Open a command prompt on the CMS.

2.

Enter the following and then press Enter:

> mxreconfig -m password

3.

Enter the new password (characters are hidden), and then press Enter.

4.

When prompted to confirm the password, enter the new password again, and then press
Enter.

5.

You must authorize the new password with the old password. Enter the old password, and
then press Enter.

6.

The utility stops all HP services, changes their passwords, and then restarts the services.

For Insight Orchestration and Operations Orchestration, you must also complete the following:

Execute the following commands from the command prompt:

mxpassword -m -x MxDBUserPassword=<New Password>

mxpassword -m -x io.db.password=<New Password>

mxpassword -m -x oo.admin.password=<New Password>
