Knife holder base without lateral movement
The one-piece knife holder base without lateral
movement (21.

) can be moved only forwards
and backwards on the microtome base plate.
Moving in the north-south direction 
The north-south movement allows you to bring
the knife holder into the optimal cutting position
in relation to the specimen.
• To release the clamp, rotate the clamping le-
ver (20, Fig. 27 ) on the front of the microtome
base plate counterclockwise.
• Reposition the knife holder together with the
knife holder base forward or backward as
appropriate.
• Secure the clamping mechanism by rotating
the lever (20) clockwise.

moved forward and backward on the micro-
tome base plate as well as laterally.
East-west direction 
The lateral movement feature of the knife hold-
er base enables the use of the entire length
of the blade or knife, eliminating the need for
readjusting the knife holder.
• To release the clamp, fold the clamping le-
ver (39, Fig. 26 ) on the left of the knife holder
base forward.
• Move the knife holder base with knife holder
laterally.
• To clamp, fold the lever (39) back.
