This chapter describes how to install the Dell PowerVault 201S and 211S storage sys-
tems in a free-standing, vertical configuration, also called a tower.

6HWWLQJ 8S D 6WDQG$ORQH 6WRUDJH 6\VWHP

A stand-alone installation kit is available from Dell for installing a rack storage system
in a stand-alone unit. One stand-alone unit is required for each rack storage system
installed.

If you have an upgrade kit, perform all the steps. If you ordered your PowerVault 201S
or 211S from Dell, perform the steps described in "Attaching Stabilizers to the Stand-
Alone Chassis," found later in this c
hapter; the other steps have already been
completed.

5DFN ,QVWDOODWLRQ 5HVWULFWLRQV

The stand-alone kit is intended to be installed by a certified service technician.

The stand-alone kit includes the following items:

One stand-alone chassis

‡

Two hat flanges (top and bottom)

‡

Two stabilizers

‡

Eight 6-32 x 1/2-inch Phillips pan-head screws

‡

Four 6-32 x 1/2-inch Phillips hex-head screws

‡

Eight 6-32 x 1/4-inch Phillips flat-head screws

NOTE: Some parts may be preinstalled.
