3.2.2.3 Port Spanning Tree Parameters
Use the Port Spanning Tree Parameters screen to view and configure certain Port Spanning Tree
parameters. See Figure 24.

View-only parameters

• State the current state of the 9135G's Spanning Tree in reference to the network configuration,

the network priorities, and which unit is designated as the root. Some of the possible states are:

• Blocked the packets are not forwarded to the next unit in the network tree.
• Listening the port is listening for a valid signal within the network tree.
• Learning the 9135G is learning the Spanning Tree topology of the network.
• Forwarding the bridge has learned the Spanning Tree topology and will forward data to the

next port or bridge in the tree.

• Disabled the port is disabled and will not forward data to the next port or bridge in the tree.


• Designated Root the Root bridge, which is the bridge with the highest priority in the network.

• Designated Cost the distance, or cost in time, of the unit or port as calculated by the bridge in

relation to the Root bridge.


• Designated Bridge the bridge that the designated root reports to.
