How to Update the 9135G Manager Software Through TFTP

To verify the software revision currently stored in the Flash memory and used by the 2345:

Step 1 From the Main Menu, type "4" and press <Enter>; then from the Reports Menu, type "1" and

press <Enter>. The Description screen appears (Figure 34).

Figure 34. Software Revision Check.

Step 2 Record the numbers for Software Revision Flash1 and Flash2 for reference when you check

the Canoga Perkins Web site.

Step 3 To check if a newer version of the software is available, log on to

www.canoga.com

. Click

Downloads, then scroll to the 9135G file names to see if this version is newer.

Step 4 If the web site lists a newer version , download the upgrade file by a TFTP client package.

The TFTP server resides in the 9135G.

Step 5 Initiate the TFTP Client to begin the upgrade, then enter data for the download:

• Local: location where upgrade software is stored
• Remote: the 9135G; the remote file will be bsw_img

• Host: the IP address for the 9135G

If the TFTP client defaults to GET, change the operation mode to PUT.

Step 6 Start the download. The process typically takes less than one minute. The TFTP transfer

sends the upgrade software directly to one of the two flash EPROMS.

Step 7 When your TFTP client indicates the transfer is complete, close the TFTP program.

Step 8 One Software Revision Flash is active while the other holds the other version until it is

invoked. To invoke the newer software revision, reset the unit. To verify this, return to the
Description screen. The new Software Revision is identified as active and the old version
remains in the inactive Flash location.
