How to Update the 9135G Manager Software Through FTP

To verify the software revision currently stored in the Flash memory and used by the 9135G:

Step 1 From the Main Menu, type "4" and press <Enter>; then from the Reports Menu, type "1" and

press <Enter>. The Description screen appears (Figure 34).

Step 2 Record the numbers for Software Revision Flash1 and Flash2 for reference when you check

the Canoga Perkins Web site.

Step 3 To check if a newer version of the software is available, log on to

www.canoga.com

. Click

Downloads, then scroll to the 9135G file name. The last digits of the filename indicate the
version number; for example, 9135G0330.img indicates firmware version 3.30.

Step 4 If the web site lists a newer version, download the upgrade file by an FTP client. The FTP

server resides in the 9135G.

Note: These are general steps for the FTP command in Windows. Refer to your FTP
documentation for specific information and details.

Step 5 Connect to the 9135G by Telnet and access the System screen and type "1" and press

<Enter>. At the IP Settings screen, select "5," Enable Download, then select either "FTP
only" or "TFPT and FTP."

Step 6 Start the FTP Client (for details, see the documentation for the client software), then change

to the directory were the upgrade is currently stored.

Step 7 To start the download, enter "ftp xxx.xxx.x.xx" where xxx.xxx.x.xx is the IP address for the

9135G.

Step 8 At the prompt for the User, enter "supervisor" in lower case, then at the prompt for the

password, either enter the password for the 9135G supervisor access or, if no password has
been set, enter "password." You must enter a password, even if no password is set.

Note: If the login fails, enter "quit" and then restart the FTP client or enter "user" and
repeat Step 8.

Step 9 At the prompt, type "dir" and check the file names for the Active and Inactive software.

These are the versions in the active and inactive Flash memory.

Step 10 At the prompt, enter "binary" to enable the file transfer format.

Note: To view the file transfer progress, type "hash".

Step 11 To start the transfer, type "put 9135GXXXX.IMG" where XXXX is the version number.

Step 12 When the transfer is complete, "Requested file action successful" appears. At the prompt,

enter "quit" to close the FTP connection.

Step 13 To invoke the new software version, reset the unit. To verify this, return to the Description

screen. The new Software Revision is in the active location and the old version remains in
the inactive Flash location.
