LACE TRIMMED HEM

To sew a narrow hem and attach
lace in one stitching, insert lace in
the slot next to needle.Sew hem as

shown, guiding lace under needle
and

hem

into

scroll.

Rickrack

stretch may be used in the same
way.

LACE EDGE WITH INVISI­

BLE STITCHING

Hold lace 1/8 inch from raw edge
on right hand side of fabric. Insert
both in scroll, as for plain narrow
hem, let hem roll over and sew in
lace. When the stitching is complet­
ed the hem is pressed on the wrong
side.

FRENCH SEAM

Place material with right sides
facing each other and the top piece
of material 1/8 inch from right

hand edge of lower piece. Insert in_
hemmer scroll allowing hem Xo roll

over and sew in top fabric making

French seam. For cording effect,

use zigzag stitch wide enough to

catch both edges of the narrow
rolled hem and sew with satin

stitch. This can be used for covering
chairs and so forth.
