̈ Make sure that the automatic trans-
mission is in parking position P be-
fore starting the engine.
! CAUTION
Do not depress the accelerator pedal
when starting the engine.

If you depress the brake pedal when
starting the engine, pedal travel may
be short and the pedal resistance
may be high.
Pedal travel and resistance return to
normal when you depress the brake
pedal again while the engine is run-
ning.

It is also possible to start the engine
in neutral N.
