Chapter 4: Performance Features and Safety Precautions

Blocking the bottom of the baffle
at the rear of hood will change the
airflow pattern in the hood causing
turbulence and possible leakage at
the face of the hood. (Don’t store
containers or supplies against the
baffle, as this will affect airflow
through the hood).

Avoid placing your head inside
hood. Keep hands out of hood as
much as practical.

Always work as far back in the
hood as possible. It is best to keep
all chemicals and apparatus 6"
inside the front of the hood.

Only explosion-proof models
feature explosion-proof electrical
components. Therefore, use of
flammable or explosive materials
in quantities above the explosive
limit are not recommended.

Do not work with chemicals in this
hood without the exhaust system
running. Do not store chemicals in
a fume hood.

Perchloric acid use in this hood is
prohibited.

High-level radioisotope materials
are prohibited for use in this hood.

AVOID CROSS DRAFTS AND
LIMIT TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF
THE HOOD. AIR
DISTURBANCES CREATED
MAY DRAW FUMES OUT OF
THE HOOD.
