1. INTRODUCTION
The TC920V Tension Controller is used to control web tension, relying on load cell based tension sensors to measure
web tension. As part of a tension control system, the TC920V measures web tension and corrects any tension errors by
adjusting the torque output of brakes, clutches, or motor drive systems. The TC920V can be used with unwinding, mid
process, constant tension winding, and tapered tension winding systems. In addition to basic single roll winding and
unwinding applications , the TC920V has additional control features to enhance tension responsiveness in machines that
require fast acceleration and deceleration, tapered tension, and multi roll splicing operations. The basic operation of the
TC920V closed loop tension control is illustrated in Figure 1.1.
