8.1 Actuator/Stroke/Friction Calibration

The Actuator/Stroke/Friction Calibration is a combined calibration that is available for models with pressure sensors. It
calibrates the following:

• Internal pressure sensors of the positioner.
• Travel of the valve position (zero and span).

• Gain values for the position is calculated if auto tuning is enabled.

• Friction of the valve assembly. (Once set, the friction value continues to update on its own during normal operation.)

Actuator

The “Actuator” box has fields to enter the data for an actuator installed on the connected valve assembly. Selecting the
Manufacturer and Model will automatically generate the effective area of the actuator. This is important in calculating the
friction force values. Selecting Other in either of these boxes will allow you to type in the effective area of the actuator.
The Pressure Units of Measurement (UOM) can be selected here as well.

Data Management

Select the

Apply button to save the settings to the positioner. Retrieve will display the values currently stored in the posi-

tioner.

Next will move to the next screen in the calibration process.
