PD Classifications

A PD may be classified by the PSE based on the classification information provided by the PD. The intent of PD classification is

to provide information about the maximum power required by the PD during operation. However, to improve power management

at the PSE, the PD provides a signature about Class level.

The PD is classified based on power. The classification of the PD is the maximum power that the PD will draw across all input

voltages and operational modes.

A PD will return to Class 0 to 4 in accordance with the maximum power draw as specified by

Table 4-16-2.
