Setting Up
the Phone
Connection

This section describes how to set up the phone connection on your mailing
system. It also includes advanced phone setup instructions for modifying
individual phone connection parameters (user ID, password, and server IP
address). The phone connections options include:

• Choosing the Dial Type (Tone or Pulse)
• Entering the Dialing Prefix
• Entering the Pitney Bowes Phone Number
• Selecting the Modem Type (Internal/External)
• Entering the Modem Initialization String
• Setting the Distributor Parameters

Choosing the
Dial Method

Use this to tell the system whether your have a tone or pulse type phone.
1. Press the Options key.
2. Select Setup Menu, then Basic Settings.
3. Press the Options key again and the select Phone Setup.
4. Select Tone/Pulse Selection.
5. Select Tone or Pulse, whichever is appropriate.
6. Press Enter.

Entering the
Dial Prefix

Use this if you need to dial a prefix number (like 9) to get an outside line.
Some systems also require a pause between the prefix and the phone
number you’re dialing.
1. Press the Options key.
2. Select Setup Menu, then Basic Settings.
3. Press the Options key again then select Phone Setup.
4. Select Dialing Prefix.
