1 Load the disc and close the
cover.
One of the following messages appears
on the display window:
For DVDs:
For video CDs:
For CDs:
• For some discs, playback starts
automatically when the lid is closed.
• When discs for which program
memories (page 102) are set, playback
starts automatically in the programmed
order.

Press the play/pause button.
• Playback starts.
• For some discs, a menu screen
appears. For video CDs, playing the
disc according to the instructions on
the disc’s menu screens is called PBC
(playback control) playback.
Hint:
• For video CDs, it is also possible to play a
disc without displaying the menu screen.
For example, to play from track 1, press
the next button once while in the stop
mode, or press the “1” number button
while in the stop mode.
• For DVDs, when the next button is
pressed while in the stop mode, playback
starts from the beginning of the title.
