Overview of Login Procedures

IMPORTANT:

Because the initial user ID administrator has administrator privileges, one of the

first tasks for the Remote Web Console administrator should be to change the password to maintain
protection of the administrator-only and restricted functions. If you are logging in to Remote Web
Console for the first time, use the initial user ID (administrator) and password (administrator) to log
in as a storage administrator, and then change the password. All user IDs and passwords are
case-sensitive. If the administrator password is lost or forgotten, you must call HP technical support
to regain access to the restricted functions.

All Remote Web Console (Java client) users are required to log in to the Remote Web Console
SVP (web server) with a valid user ID and password before executing the Remote Web Console
Java application program. You need the user account for which the Account Administrator Role is
set to Modify to register the Remote Web Console user accounts (see

“Account Window” (page 68)

).

Figure 12 (page 35)

shows an overview of the login process.

Specification

Item

The storage system can support up to 32 concurrent users.

Maximum number of concurrent users

The exceptions are displaying the Performance Monitor window and executing
the Export Tool, where the limit is two concurrent users.

The same user can concurrently log in to more than one SVP.

Logging in to multiple SVPs (web
servers)

If you execute multiple Java application programs for multiple SVPs, insufficient
memory may degrade performance.

The same user (ID) may not have multiple concurrent sessions with the same
SVPs (web servers).

Logging in to the same SVPs (web
servers) more than once concurrently

If you have failed to log in three times with the same user ID, Remote Web
Console stops replying for one minute. However, it is not a system failure.
