HP XP20000 Disk Array

The GUI illustrations in this guide were created using a Windows computer with the Internet Explorer
browser. Actual windows may differ depending on the operating system and browser used. GUI
contents also vary with licensed program products, storage system models, and firmware versions.

Overview of Remote Web Console

Remote Web Console enables you to remotely manage the storage system. This section describes
how Remote Web Console accesses the storage system.

The storage system has a computer called an SVP that is used for maintenance. Remote Web
Console accesses the SVP to obtain storage system configuration and status information and to
send user-requested commands to the storage system. Remote Web Console consists of a group
of applications that run on the JVM. The SVP uses JVM to function as a web server and Remote
Web Console to function as a Java client. The Java client that runs Remote Web Console is called
a Remote Web Console computer.

Remote Web Console communicates with SVPs on the storage systems via a LAN. The supported
interfaces between Remote Web Console and the SVP are GUI and CFL Extension.

Remote Web Console GUI

The Remote Web Console GUI allows you to perform operations on the storage system using the
Remote Web Console windows that are displayed in a web browser.

The storage system can be connected to two LANs. The storage system internal LAN is a private
LAN that is used to connect the SVPs of multiple storage systems. Your intranet is a public LAN
that allows you to access one or more SVPs from individual Remote Web Console computers. This
configuration allows you to easily access and control the registered storage system.

Figure 1 (page 8)

shows an example of Remote Web Console computer and SVP configuration.
