1. Description -- tool clamping unit

Remark:

1. These instructions have been compiled in

line with EN 1550, in conjunction with
EN 292-1, EN 292-2 and associated
relevant standards.
Due to their importance, individual explana-
tions of EN 1550 are dealt with in the chap-
ter called ”Safety Precautions”. We wish to
expressly emphasize here that note should
be taken of the entire contents of DIN EN
1550 of September 1997.

2. In the case of different tool clamping units,

the torques required for transferring the ne-
cessary clamping forces are to be determi-
ned analogously in accordance with VDI Gui-
deline 3106. If need be, the permitted speeds
must be reduced in accordance with this Gui-
deline.

3. When individual component names are men-

tioned in the following text, their item number
can be found in the item list. As a general
rule, this item number also corresponds to
the item number on the RÖHM assembly
drawing.

The tool clamping unit consists of several
subassemblies:
¯ ESP built-in clamp

¯ SLEH stationary unclamp unit

¯ SK clamping set

¯ drawbar extension

Technical features: see assemble drawing

2. Precautions

2.1 Built-in clamp

The Röhm built-in clamp can be installed
when using the work spindle with the steep
taper tool mounting in accordance with DIN
2079 or DIN 69871 and the special taper
tool mounting. It is installed in the spindle.
The force transmission from the spring set
proceeds through guided wedge elements
across their surfaces, resulting in a high le-
vel of clamping rigidity.

2.2 Stationary unclamp unit

The stationary unclamp unit is used for ope-
rating built-in clamps. When clamping, the
spindle is uncoupled and is therefore suited
to the highest speeds. When unclamping,
only a low loading on the spindle bearing
arrangement occurs.

2.3 Clamping set

The clamping set grips the draw-in bolt of the
steep taper tool mounting with the segmen-
ted collet clamp and transfers the clamping
force (holding force) of the clamping device
to the steep taper tool.

2.4 Drawbar extension

The drawbar extension is the connection bet-
ween the drawbar of the built-in clamp and
the clamping set. It is used for adjusting the
longitudinal axis for different spindle lengths.
