Replacing the Drum Unit
^\\en the drum unit is aged, replace with a new one. The Maintenance Report lets
wQU verify whether the drum unit is aged or not (see page 106). To change the drum
Jinit, follow these procedures.
First, turn off the power. Open the front cover and lift the clamshell release lever
to raise the clamshell.

. Loosen the fixing screw and remove the drum unit. Then install a new drum unit
and
tighten the fixing screw, (see pages 13 and 14)
Never expose the drum unit to ambient room light or sunlight while replacing
it. The drum unit contains a photosensitive drum. Exposing it to light may
damage the drum.

Lower the clamshell until it is locked. Then close the front cover.
CAUTION
If the power is turned off when the MEMORY LED is ON, document information stored
in memory will be erased.
