Safety precautions

Please read these precautions before op­

erating this player.

n AC cord and AC adaptor protection

To avoid any malfunctions of the player,

and to protect against electric shock, fire
or personal injury, please observe the foll­
owing:

•Use only the AC adaptor provided.
•Do not use the player above the estab­

lished ratings of the AC outlet and
power distributor or do not supply an
AC voltage other than 120 V in U.S.A.

and Canada. (Refer to “IMPORTANT

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS” on page 4.)

•Hold the plug firmly when connecting

or disconnecting the AC cord.

•Do not connect or disconnect the AC

cord when your hands are wet.

• Keep the AC cord and AC adaptor

away from heating appliances.

•Never put any heavy object on the AC

cord and AC adaptor.

•Do not attempt to repair or recon­

struct the AC cord and AC adaptor in

any way.

•Remove dust, dirt, etc. on the plug at

regular intervals.

•If liquids or foreign objects have been

spilled into the player or AC adaptor,
set the player to the standby mode

and disconnect the AC cord.

•If the player has been dropped or oth­

erwise damaged, set the player to the

standby mode and disconnect the AC

cord.

•If smoke, malodors or noises are emit­

ted from the player or AC adaptor, set
the player to the standby mode and
disconnect the AC cord.

•If the case of the AC adaptor or the AC

cord is damaged, set the player to the

standby mode and disconnect the AC

cord.

•If the AC adaptor is not going to be

used for a long time, disconnect the
AC cord for safety.

• Do not touch the plug, the AC adaptor,

battery pack or the metal part of the
player during a thunderstorm.

• Do not scratch or mark the AC adap­

tor, AC cord and power plug, rework
them, place them in proximity to a

heating appliance, forcibly bend them,

twist them, pull them, place heavy ob­

jects on top of them, bunch them to­

gether with other wires or units, or put
a cloth over them.

• Insert the power plug securely until its

prongs are completely housed inside

the AC outlet.

□ Do NOT disassemble or remodel this

player.

□ Placement

Avoid placing the player or AC adaptor in
areas of:

•direct sunlight or heating radiators, or

closed automobiles

• high temperature [over 95T (35°C)] or

high humidity (over 90%)

•excessive dust or oily smoke
•vibration, impact or where the surface is

tilted

• in a poorly ventilated location

as the internal parts may be seriously
damaged.

n No fingers or other objects inside
•Touching internal parts of this player is

dangerous, and may cause serious dam­
age to the player. Do not attempt to dis­
assemble the player.

• Do not put any foreign object inside the

player or AC adaptor.

• Do not insert metal or inflammable ob­

jects inside the player or AC adaptor.

•Take care not to catch your fingers when

you close the inner cover.
