On the player or on the remote control unit,

press PAUSE (DD) during play.

►The player will be placed in the still pic­

ture mode (for DVDA/ideo CD) or in the

pause mode (for CD).

•Norma! play is resumed when PLAY (O)

is pressed.

Tilt the joystick (◄, ►) in the

still picture mode.

Reverse direction

► : Forward direction

•The disc is advanced (reversed) by one

frame each time the joystick is tilted.

•When the joystick is kept tilted, consecu­

tive frame advance (reverse) works.

•Normal play is resumed when PLAY (>)

is pressed.

Notes:

• For Video CDs, frame reverse is not pos­

sible.

• If the On-Screen Menu Icons (Shuttle

screen) are displayed, tilting the joystick

in the still picture mode activates slow-
motion play, and frame advance/frame
reverse does not work. (See page 40.)

For your reference:
• Pressing PAUSE (DO) also activates

frame advance.

• Pressing the cursor buttons (◄, ►) will

also activate frame advance/frame re­
verse.

•Whether the pictures are advanced by a

“Frame" or “Field” is automatic. (See

page 64.)
