Connect the power cord.
•When the power is turned on for the

first time, the unit will eject the

protection sheet and print some basic
information.

Note:
•When you operate this product, the power outlet should be near the product and easily accessible.
• If you want to connect a personal computer to the unit, see page 78.
• If you want to connect an answering machine to the unit, see page 63.

Helpful hints when using an extension telephone:

If you connect an extension telephone or answering machine to the facsimile unit, please take note of
the following,

•When an extension telephone or answering machine is in use, the facsimile unit will show the following

message on the display:

EXT. IN USE

When a call is received and you press [MONITOR on the facsimile unit, the call is switched to the facsimile

unit, and the external device will be disconnected.

•If no sound is heard when you lift the handset of the extension telephone, the facsimile unit is in use.
• In the TEL/FAX mode, only the facsimile unit will ring. You cannot answer a call with the extension telephone.
