Receiving Faxes
TEL mode
(answering all calls manually)
If the AUTO ANSWER light is on, turn it off by pressing
(AUTO ANSWER].
Display:

When the unit rings, lift the handset to answer the
call.
When:
—document reception is required,
—a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or
—no sound is heard,
press (START/SET/COPY).
CONNECTING,
Replace the handset.
•The unit will start reception.
Note:
• If you do not answer the call within 10 rings;
—if the caller presses (*), the unit will switch to the
FAX mode.
—if the caller presses [#], the unit will switch to the
TEL/FAX mode.
The caller can then send documents (p. 59).
•Manual feeding is not possible for receiving
documents.
To stop receiving
Press (STOP).
Friendly reception feature
When you answer a call and hear a fax calling tone
(slow beep), the unit will automatically start
receiving.
•If this feature is not required, set to “OFF” (p. 73).
Memory reception
When a printing problem is detected, the unit will
temporarily store the received document into
memory.
While the document is in memory, the unit will:
—display an error message and the following
message alternately.
Display;
FAX IN MEMORY
—alert you with a slow beep (memory reception
alert).
• Follow the instructions on pages 110 and 111 to
solve the problem and print the stored document.
