SID

The Mono-synth SID is based on the synthe-
sis of the legendary SID chip, found in the
Commodore 64. The SID-chip was used in
the first Elektron synthesizer, the SidStation.

SID 6581

The SID 6581 machine offers one oscillator
of high quality MOS 6581 synthesis, com-
plete with ringmod and sync. Just like the
original the oscillators are derived from an
extremely fast main counter, giving a crisp
and highly recognisable sound.

PW (pulse width) controls the sound of the
PULSE waveform, and to some degree also
the MIXED waveform.

PWAD (pulse width add) sets the depth of
the pulse sweep. When set to 0 no pulse
sweep will be added to the waveform.

PWRS (pulse width restart) will when acti-
vated restart the pulse sweep controlled by
the PWAD parameter from the PW position
each time a note-on is played.

WAVE (waveform) selects the basic wave-
form to be used. The available waveforms
are:

TRI

- TRIANGLE

SAW

- SAW TOOTH

PULS - PULSE

MIX

- MIXED

NOIS - NOISE

Waveforms differing to the standard defini-
tions are MIXED, which is a special digital
SID waveform, and NOISE, which gives dif-
ferent sound depending on the pitch it is
played with.

MOD (modulation) controls the type of modu-
lation to be used. The available selections
are:

OFF

- No modulation

RING - Ring Modulation

SYNC - Hard Sync

R+S

- Ring Modulation and Hard Sync

MSRC (modulation source) controls from
where the second frequency is taken. All of
the modulation options need a second fre-
quency for their operation.

The first selection is MFRQ, which directs the
SID to take the modulation frequency from
the MFRQ parameter.

The second selection is PRCH. PRCH
stands for previous channel, which directs
the SID to look at the frequency played at the
track one index less than the one it is placed
on. If MRSC is set to PRCH for track 2 the
SID will take its modulation frequency from
the pitch played on track 1. This allows two
tracks to simultaneously influence the SID
sound.

MFRQ (modulation frequency) sets the mod-
ulation frequency if the MSRC parameter is
set to MFRQ

TUNE (tune) sets the tune of the oscillator.
