8.2.2. Ethernet Transceiver BCM54612E

The BCM54612E is a triple-speed 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet transceiver that
supports RGMII interface on the system (MAC) side and unshielded twisted-pair (UTP)
cabling and performs all of the physical layer functions of tri-speed Ethernet. The
transceiver supports Green Ethernet technology, so called Energy Efficient Ethernet
(EEE), IEEE 802.3az, and an extension of the IEEE 802.3 standard. Two BCM54612E
are installed on the board as shown in

Figure 8-9

.

For the device installed on P2041 EC2 interface, the MAC side interface is connected
to the P2041 LMP and the other side is connected to the faceplate RJ-45 connector.
The port operates as a blade LMP management port. The status and control registers
of the device are accessible through the MDIO and MDC serial interface that are also
connected to the P2041 MDC and MDIO interface. Another device is installed on
P2041 EC1 interface at the MAC side, and the other side is connected to the base
switch. Following are board settings.
