5.8.9 MISC (Miscellaneous)

This menu contains some utilities for managing mass storage volumes, controlling automatic shutdown of the
device and a hearing witness of the recording start / stop.

SETUP > MISC > HARD DISK / CF FORMAT
This screen provides access to a sub menu for formatting the hard disk and/or the CompactFlash card.
Select the media to be formatted using the joystick (Up or Down) then press to the Right or on the Centre to
access the formatting utility. A new screen appears indicating the selected media and asking you to confirm
formatting.

Select NO and press the Centre to cancel formatting and return to the previous screen.

Select YES and press the Centre to confirm formatting. The message "PLEASE WAIT" appears on the
screen during the formatting procedure, followed by a message "FORMAT SUCCESSFULL" confirming that
the formatting is completed.

WARNING: The format operation will erase all data on disk. Backup your files before formatting the drive.

NOTE:

Formatting the HD or the CF card only erases the file allocation table (known as fast format).
However, if the master boot record (MBR) does not contain a valid partition, the format tool will
create it automatically.

NOTE:

The "USER SETTINGS" files and the system file named CONFIG.DAT are temporarily copied to
the internal memory of the SX-R4 and then restored to the hard disk when formatting is finished.
So none of these files will be lost and there is no need for a computer to back-up and restore
these files.

SETUP > MISC > EMPTY TRASH

When one or more files are deleted (see Section PLAYER mode), they are not directly erased from the hard
drive but are retained in a “TRASH” folder. If the remaining free space on the hard disk becomes insufficient
for new takes, it is possible to recover some disk space by emptying the trash. All files will be permanently
erased.

Select NO and press the Centre to cancel this action and return to the previous screen.

Select YES and press the Centre to confirm formatting. The message "PLEASE WAIT" appears on the
screen while erasing the files, and then the previous screen.

NOTE:

When a file is deleted from the CompactFlash card, it is immediately and permanently deleted.

SETUP > MISC > FACTORY SETTINGS

This menu allows you to re-initialize the SX-R4 in its basic configuration (factory default setting).
Caution: this operation crushes the currently loaded configuration. However it does not affect the audio data
on the discs nor the user settings.

Select NO and press the Centre to cancel this action and return to the previous screen.

Select YES and press the Centre to load to default configuration and return to the main screen "Track
Monitoring.

SETUP > MISC > AUTO POWER DOWN TIMEOUT

To preserve battery life, it is possible to turn off the SX-R4 automatically if no action has been detected after a
given time. Press to Right or the Centre to display the "Time Out" values, select a value; Disabled (= auto
power down disabled) 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Press Centre "OK" to confirm the chosen value and return
to the previous screen.

SETUP > MISC > HEADPHONE REC TONE

Start recording, adding an index and stop recording can be witnessed in the headphones with a confidence
beep tone. Start recording and add index is signalled by a single 1kHz beep tone and stop recording is
signalled by a two tone's double beep, 2kHz-1kHz.

Select ON to activate the beep tone; select OFF to cancel the beep tone.
