Replacing a subcard

CAUTION:

When the switch is operating, do not remove or install a subcard on a base card that has not been
removed.

The subcards do not support hot swapping. Replace a subcard by using either of the following
approaches:

Power off the switch, and remove or install the subcard on the base card.

When the switch is operating, remove the base card, replace the subcard on the base card, and
then install the base card to the switch.

This section describes how to replace a subcard when the switch is powered off.
To replace a subcard:

1.

Put on an ESD-preventive wrist strap and loosen the captive screws on the subcard to be replaced.

2.

Pull the ejector levers outwards to separate the subcard from the base card.

3.

Slowly pull out the subcard along the guide rails, as shown in

Figure 62

.

4.

Put the removed subcard on an antistatic mat or in the initial package.

5.

Gently plug the subcard along the slide rails. When the ejector levers of the subcard reach the
panel of the base card, stop sliding the subcard. Push the panel of the subcard, and move the

ejector levers of the subcard inwards when the subcard reaches the base card, so that the panel

of the subcard is on the same plane as the panel of the base card.
