Accessing your Calendar on Palm

To access your Calendar on your Palm OS device:

1. Verify that the Calendar application is enabled in the Pylon Config-

uration Database. For instructions, see “Disabling or enabling a PIM
application” (page 64).

2. Initiate a sync.

3. Tap the Applications silk screen button on your device.

4. Tap the Date Book icon.

The Calendar application appears. You will see your Lotus Notes
Calendar entries there.

Note

Any note in a Calendar entry you create on your device will be
truncated in Lotus Notes to 32K. This is a Lotus Notes limitation.

Rules appearing to change with repeating Calendar events

In testing syncing of repeating Calendar events with Pylon, some non-
ideal behavior has been discovered in the way that Lotus Notes displays
the rule for a repeating event after it has been created. The rule itself is
saved as entered, and works as intended, both in Lotus Notes and on
your device, but in Lotus Notes the rule is displayed incorrectly:

When the time unit for which the event repeats (Days, Weeks,
Months) is greater than the time unit in the frequency of the event,
(Daily, Weekly, Monthly), when the rule is displayed later it changes
the time unit for which the event repeats to be the same as the time
unit in the frequency of the event.

For example, a weekly appointment, repeating for six months, is
displayed as a weekly appointment, repeating for six weeks.
Internally the rule is stored as entered and the event is maintained
correctly as repeating for six months.

When a weekly event repeats on more than one day of the week,
when the rule is displayed later it shows only the latest day in the
week.

For example, if you set up an event to repeat weekly on Wednesday
and Friday, when the rule is displayed later it shows that the event
repeats weekly on Friday only. Internally the rule is stored as
entered and the event is maintained correctly as repeating weekly
on Wednesday and Friday.

Accessing additional Calendars on Palm OS via Pylon Select

Pylon Select is an application that works in conjunction with the Palm
Date Book. Using Pylon Select allows you to switch back and forth
between two or more Calendar databases quickly and easily.

Note

Pylon Select only works with Palm OS versions earlier than 5.2. Pylon
Select installs on your device if you enable two or more Calendar
databases. Pylon Select installs with a HotSync operation.
