Input connection

The MR-8mkII provides two input channels ([INPUT A] and [INPUT B]), which can connect a
microphone or line-level source (such as a keyboard). In addition, the [INPUT A] channel also
can accept an electric guitar as well as the internal microphone. The balanced (XLR) connector
can supply the phantom power for a condenser microphone (see page 137).

[INPUT A] channel

Both the [BAL] XLR connector and [UNBAL/
GUITAR] phone jack are provided. If you con-
nect sources to both the XLR connector and
PHONE jack, the phone jack takes priority. If you
want to connect an electric guitar, connect it to
the phone jack and set the [INPUT A SELECT]
switch appropriately (see the next page).

[INPUT B] channel

Both the [BAL] XLR connector and [UNBAL/
GUITAR] phone jack are provided. You can-
not use both at a time. If you connect sources
to both the XLR connector and PHONE jack,
the phone jack takes priority.

[TRIM] control

Controls the input gain (recording level) of
the [INPUT A] channel (including the inter-
nal microphone). Adjust the [TRIM] control
properly so that the PEAK indicator does not
blink or light at the loudest part of the input
signal (see page 15).

[TRIM] control

Controls the input gain
(recording level) of the
[INPUT B] channel. Ad-
just the [TRIM] control
properly so that the PEAK
indicator does not blink or
light at the loudest part of
the input signal (see page
15).

[DISTORTION] control

You can record a distorted guitar sound to
the MR-8mkII. This control adjusts the
amount of the distortion effect for a guitar
connected to the phone jack on the [INPUT
A] channel. This control is effective only when
the [INPUT A SELECT] switch is set to "GUI-
TAR".

Internal micro-
phone

You can use the inter-
nal microphone by set-
ting the [INPUT A SE-
LECT] switch to "INT
MIC". In this condition,
you cannot use the [IN-
PUT A] connectors.
