Memory Gap:

Some ISA network adapters need to be mapped in system

memory address space, normally at the upper end. Since the ISA bus is limited
to 24-bit addressing (0-16 MB), systems with more than 16MB of memory
installed will not accommodate these adapters.

When enabled, this selection will remap system memory such that a

gap is

created between the addresses of 15 and 16MB. This gap is then used to map
the I/O space on the adapter into this area.
