Spanning Tree

The Spanning-Tree Protocol (STP) is a standardized method (IEEE 802.1d) for

avoiding loops in switched networks. When STP enabled, to ensure that only one path

at a time is active between any two nodes on the network. It’s recommended to enable

STP on all switches to ensure only one active path on the network.

The Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) is an evolution of the Spanning Tree

Protocol and provides for faster spanning tree convergence after a topology change.

The system also supports STP and the system will auto-detect the connected device

that is running STP or RSTP protocol.
